Running a New Year Cleanse?

Group cleanses can be a fun and easy way for health coaches and holistic practitioners to help people begin the year with a fresh start.

Group cleanses can also be a smart way to boost your income and reach more people.

Before you run a group cleanse though, don’t forget to take legal steps to use the right language, have disclaimers in place, and protect your content.

Here’s a simple Legal Love™ Checklist to help you stay safe, supported, and confident:

New Year Cleanse Legal Checklist for Health Coaches

1. Avoid accidentally making medical claims.

As you promote your online group cleanse, if you’re saying things like:

❌ “This cleanse will treat your inflammation”

❌ “This program will heal your hormones”

❌ “This detox addresses IBS”

…you’re entering RISKY territory.

Instead, use words like “balance” or “support” – not “treat” or “heal”.

Get clear about what ELSE you can and can’t say and do within 1 hour:

2. Have a clear refund policy.

Set expectations upfront so there’s no confusion later.

3. Use the right legal document during enrollment.

When you run a group online cleanse, you must have clients agree to a Terms of Use before you deliver any content.

Why? The DIY Terms of Use will:

✓ Protect your content and intellectual property like your recipes, videos, guides, audios, worksheets and more.
✓ Disclaim your liability. (This is the disclaimer language you want!)
✓ Protect member privacy.
✓ Hold firm boundaries – like your “no refunds” policy.

Note: This document template is very easy to use – just download and fill in a few blanks! – and you’ll be all set with your medical disclaimer, content protection and refund policy!

4. Avoid violating copyright laws.

If you’re thinking:

“Can I use this recipe… handout… worksheet… graphic… that someone else made?”

A little legal prep now saves so much stress, confusion, and risk later.

Just like how taking care of your health and resetting with a cleanse now helps prevent health issues later. Same-same!

Here’s to running your group cleanse in a way that feels joyful and expansive for both you and your clients!
