What is it?
The Media Release is a solid liability waiver/release to get permission to use someone’s name, image, likeness or voice in photos, videos, or audios at any live, in-person event, class, workshop, seminar or retreat.
- It should be signed by every attendee at the start of the event BEFORE you start taking photos, videos, or audios.
- It lets your attendees know that they aren't receiving any compensation.
- It tells them they can’t hold you liable for photographing, filming or recording them and then sharing footage publicly.
Note: If you want to gather a testimonial from a client, use the DIY Testimonial Release instead.
Why do you need it?
It protects YOU so your attendees can’t claim you’re violating their privacy rights.
It protects your CLIENT by clearly saying how you’ll use their name, likeness, voice or comments in the future.
The Media Release helps you:
- Get written permission - so an attendee can’t come after you for violating their privacy or hold you liable for sharing their image, voice or comments from the event.
- Create clarity with the attendee about allowing you to photograph, film or record them.
- Provides proof that the attendee consented to use of their image/comments.
- Be forthright that the attendee isn’t being compensated.
- Be grounded, safe + secure and supporting your root chakra.
You can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that you’ve gotten the proper permission from your attendees to photograph, film or record them.
