Sometimes, when you’re a “giver”, you don’t always say where your biz boundaries are because:

  • You may not even be sure where your boundaries are yourself, or
  • You don’t want to appear cold or unapproachable by having harsh boundaries.

In other words…

You want to be nice.

I TOTALLY get that.

That’s why it’s important to put legal protections in place when you’re a GIVER, so you can be CLEAR about your boundaries.

When it comes to your website, you want to create boundaries for your website visitors. The best way to do that is having a strong, clear Website Disclaimer on your site.

Your Website Disclaimer should be linked through the footer of your website. Not two sentences on the bottom of your site, but a 4-5 page document that really dives into where you draw your lines.

Your Website Disclaimer creates CLARITY by saying that:

  • Your website is just providing information and education – not medical, psychological, legal, financial or accounting advice.
  • They need to use their OWN judgment before applying what they read on your site to  their own life or situation. 
  • Your responsibility is to provide info but THEIR responsibility is to apply it to their life with their own discretion and judgment based on their own situation.

You have to draw your lines.

This is critical because when you’re a giver (like most entrepreneurs and coaches are!), ALL you want to do is GIVE and help others. #giversgonnagive
