Share the benefits of your favorite healing process without getting into hot water legally

by | May 16, 2022 | DIY Legal Master Classes

Self care has changed for so many of us during the course of the pandemic.

I’m curious… Have you implemented any new regular self-care practices during these past few years? If so, share them with us. We’d love to hear!

Maybe you’ve been taking a nice hot bath every week with your favorite essential oils to calm and reset your nervous system? (Heaven knows, we’ve all needed it!)

Maybe you’ve concocted a new & tasty coconut milk smoothie that you can make for lunch in a flash?

Maybe you’ve found a new hiking trail or path through your neighborhood that’s become your go-to for much-needed fresh air?

Or maybe you’ve made your turmeric tea as a nightly ritual to help you get more zzzz’s?

If there’s one thing I know for sure, as health and wellness practitioners, it’s that we’re stellar at knowing how to support our bodies with healthy food and daily practices. (Needed now more than ever after the past few grueling years…)

Often, when we have a healing process that works really well for us, we can be passionate about sharing the benefits of programs or products, like:

  • Essential oils
  • Certain supplements (or specific brands)
  • Eating protocols (like Keto, Veganism or Intermittent Fasting)
  • Herbal tinctures
  • Energy clearings (like Reiki, chakra clearings, or use of pendulums)
  • Infra-red saunas (I love mine!!)
  • Your own program or service

We know how powerfully these things work for us, so we want to post everywhere from our laptops to help other people find relief from pain, greater peace, muscle relaxation and more.

But, how can you share healing processes without getting into hot water by making medical claims?

Here’s a little Legal Love™ tip:

Share the BENEFITS of your favorite healing process without crossing into medical claims.

Yep! This is so important to keep in mind.

Know that it’s fine to share the BENEFITS of these types of healing programs, products and services, but you don’t want to cross over into making medical claims by saying that the program or product will prevent, reduce, heal or cure a medical illness.

This is what you want to clearly AVOID doing.

How exactly do you share the benefits?

How can you legally talk about your own experience?

What else can you do to protect yourself?
