Taking a stand on my birthday + donating profits from this DIY Legal Master Class
The past few weeks and months have been extraordinarily difficult for our country, but the past few CENTURIES have been difficult for our brothers and sisters who are BBIPOC (Black, Brown, Indigenous and People of Color).
There is no excuse for the horrendous police brutality used against George Floyd which killed him.
And as I posted on social media last week, there is no excuse for his death – or for the past injustice in the criminal justice system to so many BBIPOC.
As a lawyer, it sickens me and makes me feel ashamed that there has been such horrors in how police and courts have applied the law with such discrimination. As a heart-centered person, it saddens me. In this country, we all are entitled to the same rights. Equal rights. Civil rights. Human rights. All rights. Period.
Today is my 50th birthday.
As I reflect on the past 50 years I’ve been alive, I think about being born in 1970 – just 2 years after Dr. Martin Luther King was shot and murdered.
I think about how much civil rights work was done during the Civil Rights Movement…and yet how far we still have to go as a society.
I am sorry for the pain, loss and suffering that BBIPOC have already endured, and continue to experience – and I stand with you as an ally as a proponent of antiracism.
Many people don’t know this but for all of my life, I’ve been raised by civil rights activists. By my father who served in the early 1970s as an ally to black leaders in my hometown as the Vice President of the local NAACP chapter (my father was Caucasian). By my mother who joined my father in peaceful protests on their college campus and who welcomed people of all colors and races and religions into our home our entire lives so my sister and I could learn from their positive example that all BBIPOC are equally worthy of respect, kindness, love and friendship.
My parents did their best to pass on their values to my sister and me. And while I still have much to learn about antiracism and I know I am privileged just by being born white, what’s one small way I can support others starting today?
I believe ALL people should have a voice, speak out, stand tall, and be treated equally under the law.
And, as you know, I educate people about the law.
My passion is to teach you how to operate your business safely and protect your income and work so you can use your voice as a lightworker to spread light, love and service to the world.
For a while now, I’ve wanted to offer a new Legal Master Class. It’s been requested for years – and now it’s finally ready.
In light of everything facing our country right now, it feels strange to be sharing information about this Legal Master Class. But it also feels important to empower you to honor, protect and defend your work so you can be a powerful business owner using your voice and income to support and speak up for others who need to be heard.
Today I am releasing a brand new DIY Legal Master Class on “State Nutrition Law Basics for Health Coaches” – and I’m doing 2 things:
1. You can get the Master Class at 50% off TODAY through 11:59pm PT Friday, June 12 (with coupon code BIRTHDAY).
2. I’m donating 50% of all profits from the Master Class purchased this week to the NAACP in memory of George Floyd and to honor all BBIPOC.
Why this topic?
Well, in over 3500 Legal Chats that my team and I have done over the years, so many health coaches ask us:
“What can I legally do in my state as a health coach?”
“How can I find out what my nutrition laws say so I don’t violate state laws?”
I would never want you to put yourself in a position to be reported and investigated as a health coach.
This DIY Legal Master Class covers basic information about state nutrition laws so you can understand how to find your state laws to protect yourself, your income, and your health coaching practice.
This DIY Legal Master Class will help you empower yourself to know what your state laws say so you don’t get fined or have your health coaching practice shut down.
Learn more HERE. (Don’t forget to use coupon code BIRTHDAY).
Who is it for?
This do-on-your-own-time (from the comfort of your home!) class is for you if you are a health coach or non-licensed holistic practitioner like a:
Nutritional Therapy Practitioner
Functional Nutrition Coach
(Please note that this class may be taken by licensed medical professionals such as an RD, MD, RN, chiropractor, massage therapist, etc., but it’s taught from the perspective of educating health coaches and non-licensed professionals and what they need to know about state laws so that they don’t violate medical, dietetics or title protection laws.)
Why do you need it?
This DIY Legal Master Class is an easy do-it-yourself way to find out more about your state nutrition laws outside of having a personal consultation with an attorney in your state.
This DIY Legal Master Class shares information to help you have a general sense of how to figure out what your state law says to have a better sense of what you can and can’t do as a health coach so you can feel safe, secure, confident and empowered working with your clients.
Please note that the Master Class does not walk through the language of each of the 50 states as that would be too time-consuming for a 1-hour class.
Instead, this Class teaches you how to find out what your state law says so you’ll be able to know what your state law says today and where to look to stay on top of any future changes as well.
Here’s to empowering yourself around your state nutrition laws – and to remembering George Floyd and honoring all BBIPOC both today and going forward.
