What is an S-Corp and when do you need it?

by | May 14, 2018 | LLC & S-Corp, Podcasts

I know that having a corporation can sound daunting, particularly if you’re a one-woman or one-man show.

Corporations can sound cold and big (and scary!), but there’s no need to be scared. Corporations can be a great option for solopreneurs, especially if you’re farther along with your business and your intuition tells you that you’re ready to “go pro”.

A fave of small business owners is the “S-Corporation”. I like to jokingly say the S stands for ‘small’. It doesn’t – it stands for Subchapter S of the Internal Revenue Code, but that’s way more boring, don’t you think?

S-Corps offer a lot of benefits, including the potential to save a significant money in taxes over time. (Cha-ching!) That’s one of the main reasons a lot of business owners elect S-Corp status. But, as with anything, there are pros and cons to having one.

In this week’s podcast, I break down the basics about S-Corps: What they are. Why you might need one. When a good time is to form one.

So take a deep breath, cast your corporate worries aside, light your Peace candle by Danielle LaPorte (one of the best!) and grab your headphones.

I promise I won’t make this corporate stuff boring.
