Can’t I just use 1 legal document for everything?

by | Oct 19, 2020 | DIY Legal Templates, Podcasts

With so much going on, everyone’s trying to simplify right now.

In so many of our Legal Chats lately, people have asked:

Can’t I just get one legal template that covers everything that I do?

You would think that there could be one legal document to cover everything you offer, right?

Well, I hate to bum you out, but…

Legal Love™ Tip: There’s no one-size-fits-all legal document.

Why?

Just like there’s no one-size-fits-all diet for the human body – there’s no one-size-fits-all legal document for your business.

Some people are vegan and it works well for their body like vegan ultra-endurance athlete Rich Roll (who my friend Christina Neuner quotes weekly – she loves him!)

Some do better with Mark Sisson’s Primal Blueprint and love eating Paleo or Keto.

Me? I was a vegetarian for 17 years (!) before being a vegetarian was cool (my poor mother!)

Then when I went to IIN, I discovered I was sugar-sensitive so I stopped and now I actually feel better in my body than I did before. Who knew?

We each are unique individuals, and our bodies change throughout our lives.

The same is true for business.

We all have different backgrounds, education, expertise, licensure, and certifications.

How you operate as a biz owner isn’t necessarily the same as your biz buddy, even if you’re both in the same field.

A legal document that works for your biz buddy might work for you – or it might not.

I’ve been getting this question so much lately that I wanted to share a previously-aired podcast episode about it. (It’s just 15 minutes – super-short.)

Have a listen for 3 real-life examples of when you need to use different legal docs when it comes to protecting your income, trademarking your brand, and creating your corporate entity.
