Good news about Florida’s new nutrition law – it’s now in effect!
As a health coach or holistic practitioner, you may have heard that the Florida nutrition law has changed from a red state to green state…and you are correct!
What does the new Florida nutrition law mean for you?
For so long, the dietetics law was very restrictive for those who weren’t registered dieticians or licensed nutritionists in Florida.
But now the State of Florida has changed its dietetics law and you have so much more freedom to practice!
The Florida legislature passed the bill into law a few months ago but it didn’t go into effect until July 1st after it was presented to the Governor of Florida for his signature.
The new Florida law now gives you more room to practice with 1-on-1 clients and also groups – finally!
However, there are still a few restrictions you need to know so I’m excited to share that Jonathan Posey, Executive Director for the Council of Holistic Health Educators, has more information for you. You can contact him HERE.
If you want to privately discuss how new law relates to your business specifically, I am very familiar with the new Florida law. Feel free to reach out for a free Legal Chat to share more about your business situation so we know how to direct you. You can book a free 20-minute Legal Chat with my team here.
We owe our thanks to Jonathan (and so many others!) for lobbying the Florida legislature to change the new law, educating the legislators, and working closely with the dieticians’ lobbyists to make sure that there is room in Florida for BOTH health coaches AND dieticians.
And, if you’re not in Florida but you’re wondering about YOUR state, know that Jonathan (and others) are working hard on trying to create space for holistic nutrition practitioners to practice alongside (but not replace) dieticians in other states with restrictive laws. It’s a slow process but he’s very dedicated and we are lucky to have him leading the way!
Here’s to feeling more empowered around Florida’s new nutrition law now that it’s in effect!
