How to Protect Your Website
Meet Susie Q.
You might know her – or someone like her. Heck, she could even be you!
Susie Q* busted her buns to create a new website. She worked for HOURS perfecting her About page. She had a professional photo shoot, poured over creating text and chose a hip cursive font to reflect her brand. It went live and she was so proud of her site – even if she felt a little vulnerable to share it with everyone.
A few months later, a friend told her that she saw another biz owner with an About page that looked and read eerily similar to hers. I mean REALLY similar. Same layout. Same photo poses. Same font. Even the same TEXT. On an About page!
How can someone possibly copy Susie Q’s About page??!! Can you even believe it?
As you can imagine, Susie Q was very upset. She felt helpless, violated and angry, and she didn’t know what she could do.
It wasn’t Susie Q’s fault. She didn’t know that she should have legal documents on her website. No one ever told her.
She didn’t know that with a few simple steps, she could feel safe and secure with her new website.
She didn’t realize that she could legally protect her content and brand, and have legal language to fall back on if someone copied her About page.
Imagine how empowered Susie Q would have felt if she had key legal language on her website.
Imagine how confident she would have felt knowing she could DO SOMETHING when that happened.
Susie Q was definitely feeling like a Website Worrier – and she was dying to feel like a Website Warrior!
I have clients come to me all the time like Susie Q who need help in situations exactly like this. Usually AFTER someone’s swiped their stuff.
