Before I started B-School, I was still working at my day job full-time.
I worked after hours and on weekends slowly building my business with 1-on-1 legal clients primarily via word of mouth. My early clients were mostly other Health Coaches who found me through our IIN Health Coaching school or various Facebook groups.
I have to say…. I LOVE working 1:1 with clients. I have done it for the past 3.5 years.
Helping entrepreneurs get their legal documents in place so they can feel safe, secure, confident and empowered – well, that’s like the vanilla icing on a gluten-free cupcake to me!
As I went through B-School, I listened to Marie. She always said you grow your business “one person at a time” and to give everyone lots of love and attention – so that’s exactly what I did.
Now I am known for giving tons of Legal Love® to all my private clients.
But there was BIG UGLY THING that was stopping me dead in my tracks.
It was the scary monster under the bed that I was afraid to peer at… and when I did finally look at it, I looked like this….
You may think it is silly, but it was really, really scary for me to “get bigger” – and here’s why:
I was terrified of being VISIBLE.
No joke.
Truth be told, in some ways, I still am treading lightly around visibility, actually.
Visibility is totally my achilles heel.
I LOVE speaking from the stage and being interviewed as a legal expert in tons of webinars and bonus classes, but when it comes to talking about my own fears and vulnerabilities, let’s just say I am still working on it. #totalworkinprogress
In fact, I have been scared writing some of these B-School e-mails because I am revealing more than ever before about my financial success, my income level, etc. It’s been very vulnerable and scary to share this stuff, but I am trying to stretch myself and keep growing.
The vast majority of lawyers sit safely behind a desk staying FAR from the spotlight pushing black & white boring legal documents.
They CERTAINLY don’t show up online in a red dress looking over their shoulder on a website filled with color and chakra references! Gasp!
But, one of the things that inspired me most about Marie is that she created an incredibly successful online course – and in each B-School course module she just shows up, teaches and shines.
She made me believe that if SHE could do it, I could do it too. This was HUGE.
And so I did it.
